Must-Visit La La Land Filming Locations in LA!

Whether you’re a La La Land fan or a Clueless fan, there’s good news: many of the movie’s famous places can be visited in person. The film utilized over 40 locations throughout Los Angeles County, but the five listed below are among the most well-known:

5.) Mt. Hollywood Drive

Location: Mt. Hollywood Dr. Los Angeles, CA 90027

Mia and Sebastian tapdance to the movie composer’s original song, “A Lovely Night,” on a paved street hugging a hillside in Griffith Park. The location overlooking the Valley is called Cathy’s Corner, and if what’s seen on-screen looks unfamiliar to the local eye, it’s because the producers brought in the street lamps and park bench.

4.) The Lighthouse Café

Location: 30 Pier Ave Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

Sebastian accompanies Mia to this beachfront venue in the hopes of persuading her to like his favorite music. After the two separate ways, Gosling walks down the 1,000-foot-long Hermosa Beach Pier, singing the film’s major theme, “City of Stars.”

3.) Smoke House Restaurant

Location: 4420 W Lakeside Dr. Burbank, CA 91505

The stars first meet at this steakhouse across the street from the Warner Brothers lot, when Sebastian is being challenged by the restaurant manager by opting for improvisational jazz instead of the obligatory Christmas carol repertoire.

2.) Rialto Theatre

Location: 1023 Fair Oaks Ave South Pasadena, CA 91030

This South Pasadena theater is where Mia and Sebastian watched Rebel Without a Cause, which first opened its doors in the 1920s as a venue for vaudeville and movies.

Fun fact: The theater was closed to the public in 2010, but it was purchased by a developer in 2015 with plans to reopen it as a fourplex cinema with most of the original architecture preserved.

1.) Griffith Observatory

Location: 2800 E Observatory Ave Los Angeles, CA 90027

While you won’t be able to waltz through the air in this star-studded planetarium, you will be able to visit the observatory featured in one of the film’s most spectacular scenes. This cultural monument is a must-see, featuring some of the greatest views of Los Angeles and a long list of movie appearances. (Additionally, admission is free.)

Where to stay: If you want to stay near Universal Studios Hollywood (which is also a filming location for one of the scenes in La La Land), the Sheraton Universal is the ideal accommodation to rest after a long day of adventure in LA!

There are a plethora of accommodations to select from on Booking.com, so have fun finding the ideal one for you!
