Samsung: Saving The Environment Through Green Chip Line Up

Green Chip Memory Samsung

Electronic garbage, commonly known as e-waste, is the term for electronic items that have reached the end of their “useful life.”

E-waste has a terrible influence on the environment because, when heated, harmful compounds are released into the air, harming the atmosphere; this is one of the most serious environmental consequences of e-waste.

While the dangers of toxic e-waste continue to plague our globe, Samsung has taken steps to protect the environment.

Five of Samsung’s memory devices have gained global recognition for successfully lowering carbon emissions, and 20 more memory products have been certified for carbon footprint reduction.

Where do green chips fit into the picture? Samsung’s automotive LED packages also had their carbon footprint verified, a first in the industry for automotive LED packages, extending Samsung’s eco-conscious ‘green chip’ portfolio even further.

The Carbon Trust recently awarded five Samsung memory devices with ‘Reducing CO2’ labels: HBM2E (8GB), GDDR6 (8GB), UFS 3.1 (512GB), Portable SSD T7 (1TB), and microSD EVO Select (128GB).

The Reducing CO2 label certifies that a product’s carbon emission has declined. Through improved production efficiency, Samsung was able to reduce the carbon emissions of the five memory products.

This means that fewer raw materials and electricity were utilized per chip. Samsung chose environmentally sustainable paper instead of plastic to package the Portable SSD T7 (1TB) to reduce the product’s carbon footprint.

Samsung took the initiative in saving the planet one Green Chip at a time.
